We are Carmen, Didem, Shiwani and Marieke (from left to right) and our subject is healthy life.
Carmen (group leader): I am 14 years old and my hobbies are swimming and photographing. I practice swimming 4 times a week and on sunday we sometimes have competitions. I like to play soccer outside with my neighbours. Most of the time we play in the weekends, but also during the week. That depends on our homework. We have a lot of children in the neighbourhood, with different ages. I live with my parents and I'm only child. My favourite food are pizza and french fries. I also like some healthy food :-)
Marieke: I am 14 years old and my hobbies are gymnastics and badminton. I practice gymnastics twice a week and badminton 3 times a week. I like to be outside with friends and neighbours, but it depends on the amount of homework. My favourite food are french fries and spinach. My favourite subject at school is physical education. I live with my parents and I have an older sister.
Shiwani: I am 14 years old and my hobbies are gymnastics and to watch Netflix. I like Pretty little liars the most and some comedy movies. I have one younger brother, Dinesh. We live with our mom in Rotterdam. My favourite food is lasagna. My favorite subject at school is technology, beacuse we do a lot, we design a lot of stuff and make it afterwards.
We are Carmen, Shiwani, Didem and Marieke and this is our project about healthy life in 3 generations in India and the Netherlands. To find information, we interviewed our parents and grandparents. After the research, we compared our outcomes with the outcomes of our Indian buddies. This report is the final comparison of the 3 generations in both countries. The main question for our report is: Has the lifestyle of the families become more or less healthy? This question will be answered in the conclusion. We really liked this project because we learned much new things about the differences between the countries.
Part 2: Research
What did we expect in advance? We expected that the daily life in India is very different than in the Netherlands, because of the information on the Weebly website of st. Gregorios high school. We watched their video to know each other at the starting point of the project. We expected that the culture was so different but in a other way we saw there. Also we expected that their clothing were different but we almost liked the same stuff. We expected this project to be very interesting.

The interviews were not videotaped and no pictures were taken, because of the privacy of the interviewed persons. We descided to type along instead of filming, so we could write down all the answers. Later on, we made a summary about the interviews. (This is a school regulation)

Carmen her grandma, called Annie is born in the Netherlands and is 80 years old.

Marieke her grandpa, called Reinier is born in the Netherlands and is 69 years old.

2.3 Interviews Shiwani's grandmother: Shiwani's grandmother is called Kamla Toelsie. She is 69 years old and she had one sister and two brothers. They lived on countryside with their family. Her parents were farmers and they sold milk and eggs. They did sports in a gym where they did sport games. At home they also played sport games with the family.
Carmen's grandmother: Carmen's grandmother had a busy life, she lived in a small house. She did sports at school and she did gymnastics after school.
Carmen's mother: Carmen's mother had a good life when she was a child. She could do whatever she wanted to do. She had one sister and their school was nearby. She did gymnastics and at school other sports like baseball.
Didem's mother: There were 6 people in the family and they all lived in the same house until her parents got divorced. Her mother was a Dutch teacher and her father worked as a designer for a large clothing store. She did ballet as sport.
Marieke's father: The family consists of 5 people. He has 1 brother and 1 sister. In the past he lived with his entire family in one house. His parents did a job. His father did something in the financial world and his mother was a housewife. He lived with his family in a house in Zoetermeer.
Marieke's grandfather: Marieke's grandpa lived with his family in one house. His family consists of 5 people. In school they did physical education and swimming. After school he also did a sport. At school there where things to practise this sport. He loved to play soccer.
Part 3: Conclusion: comparison and reflection
3.1 Comparison in the Netherlands
Similarities and diffrences between grandparents in The Netherlands. Most of the families had around 6 people in their family. At school they did sport like gymnastics in a gymnasium. There were not a lot of those buildings so there were many children in a group. Their parents jobs where producing their own food, that was what they ate too. They ate carrots, cauliflower and cucumber. That were a few examples, but there was much more! Most of the interviewed people lived around The Hague in an apartment. They ate what we eat in Holland at the moment, so no big differences.
Similarities and diffrences between parents in The Netherlands. They lived with around 5 people in one house. They bought the food in the supermarkets nearby. There were/are many supermarkets nearby so they had not to ride/walk far to get some food. At school they did different sport like soccer, basketball and gymnastics. They lived around The Hague and most of them lived in apartments. They ate what we eat at the moment in The Netherlands.
In our comparison between the parents and grandparents, we found that they loved to do sports and that all of them lived in a house with the entire family. One mother was housewife and all of the others had a job. They didn’t have the same amount of people in one family. The most people lived in the city, but one lived on the countryside.
3.2 Comparison of the Netherlands and India
We are waiting for information from the Indian students to make the comparison.
3.3Answering the main question
Answer to main question: Has the lifestyle of the families become more or less healthy? Families in the Netherlands are becoming less healthy, because now there are some much food with fake products in it. For example, animals are fed with bad products to grow faster and vegetables are being sprayed with toxins. In the past the production of the crops was less intensive. Nowadays, a more and more crops are being producted. In the past all products were biologically grown and today there are some specials farms with biologically grown products, but most of the farms are not. Those sprayed products and fathening food for animals are bad for peoples health. Also, nowadays, people in the Netherlands are working more and more and they have less time to do sports. Children are 'addicted' to their phones and they don't play outside anymore. This is a bad development.
3.3 Reflection We chose to work together, because we went together to India. We tought that we could work good together, but sometimes it was pretty hard to work together because Didem is in a different class. She worked with us for like 3 times so we had to tell her what she had to do. I think we had lots of fun together. We think the project is very interesting because of the diffrences in culture. The contact with the people in India was good and we did a lot different things in this big project. We found it fun and we’ll think that the grades that will have this project in the future have a lots of fun too.
